Using Skype with HP Touchpad
Connecting With Skype is Easy
Using your HP Touchpad to connect through Skype is very easy. Perhaps you're like me and picked up the touchpad during the fire sale that happened in August 2011 (or later) and want to get the most use out of your tablet. I use skype to check-in on the family at home, and it's a great way to get the most from your HP Touchpad.
1) Go to the "Phone and Video Calls" app that comes installed on the Touchpad. Once the app loads, choose "Skype" as your connection type. Once you select Skype, you will be asked to sign in. If you do not have an account, you can setup a free account.
2) Once you have logged in, choose "Create Account," then press "go." Now you are connected with Skype. You can start importing contacts now and begin testing the service.
It is really easy to setup. You can make video and voice only calls free of charge to other Skype users. If you think that you may use your Touchpad to call other phone numbers that are not on Skype, you may want to consider opening a full account with Skype. However, I have found that the free version works just fine for video conferencing with my two kids!
Skype How to Video
I have created a video tutorial that will walk you through these steps. It is very simple, but the video will walk you through the steps of connecting your Touchpad to others via Skype.
